Day 1

You will fly on a local scheduled flight to the Ruaha National Park – Msembe Airstrip. ETD is 08h30 and arrival at Msembe is 11h00 (times may vary depending on charter company). At Msembe Airstrip you will be met by the staff from Kigelia Camp and transferred to the camp whilst doing a game drive on the way. You will have lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon just relaxing.

You will tailor make activities with the camp Manager and get to spend your days exploring Ruaha to find the best panoramas and wildlife. Activities include game drives and guided walks within Ruaha National Park.

4 nights Kigelia Camp, Ruaha National Park

(includes all meals, drinks, game viewing activities & park fees)

Kigelia Camp is a small, classic luxury seasonal tented camp and is set on a dry river bed under the welcome, cool shade of Sausage Trees. It offers six (6) double large walk-in tents, with en suite bathrooms.

Kigelia Camp is accessed by light aircraft to an airstrip within the Ruaha National Park. This mobile camp operates in a socially and environmentally responsible way, placing a minimal human footprint.

Ruaha is one of the last true African wildernesses and one of Africa’s biggest protected areas. You can expect to have an amazing wildlife experience as Ruaha hosts one of the largest populations of elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, greater and lesser kudu, cheetah and lion.

Day 5

After breakfast you will depart Kigelia Camp for your scheduled flight to Selous/Kiba departing at 11h45 and arriving at 13h05. (Please note times may vary).

Sand Rivers Camp Selous is located in the Selous Game Reserve in southern Tanzania. Situated in a beautiful position on the river, to the west of the main game areas, this camp has long enjoyed an excellent reputation!

Elegant public areas are in stone and thatch, with a modest pool on a deck above the water. The five standard and three suite rooms are similarly constructed and beautiful dressed.

Motorboat safaris are extremely good here, with good chances of game along the river and relatively easy access to Steigler's Gorge. Vehicle safaris tend to be quite gentle, with full day excursions over to the main game areas around Lake Manze being the exception rather than the rule. Walking safaris also offer good chances of game encounters - with elephant in particular.

3 nights Sand Rivers Selous, Selous Game Reserve

Sand Rivers Selous has just 8 stone and thatched cottages, all of which are open-fronted and raised on decks overlooking the river.

There are 5 Riverside rooms - with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, flush toilets and powerful showers - and 3 Hillside Suites. The Suites have all the above, but a large living space and a small plunge pool.

Sit around the bar at the end of the day, the drinks are cold and there's always good stories to be told!

The main mess is spacious, open-fronted and cool. There's a chill-out area near the library and then acres of dining spots - around the main pool,  privately tucked away in a quiet corner of the mess - or at the very social manager's table!

HIGHLIGHTS: The sights and sounds of the river and the great variety of adventures to be had along its banks and the surrounding woodlands and open sand rivers. Sleeping in open-fronted rooms and being close to nature, while enjoying all the comforts of a conventional lodge - and being completely safe.  Fabulous sightings of the river's residents, great birding as well as lots of big mammals; visits to Stieglers Gorge, Kidai Island, Hot Springs and Lake Tagalala.

Day 8

After breakfast (or lunch) you will say good bye to Sand Rivers Selous and its staff. You will be transferred to Selous/Kiba Airstrip for your flight back to Dar Es Salam departing at 09h45 and arriving at 10h20.
